The Bushnell Wingman 2 Golf GPS Speaker is a clever combination of a portable bluetooth speaker and a golf GPS rangefinder. For many golfers, it provides an all-in-one solution to have music on the course while also getting precise distance data to greens, hazards, and landing zones.
The speaker itself produces decent sound quality, with dual 6W drivers that can get fairly loud so you can easily hear your music and get audible GPS distances even from across the fairway. The bass response is a bit lacking as you’d expect from a portable speaker, but the mids and highs are clear. It has an IPX7 waterproof rating so you don’t have to worry about it getting wet during rain delays.
It comes preloaded with data for over 38,000+ courses worldwide. Once you’ve selected your course, it uses GPS to automatically detect which hole you’re on and displays front, center, and back distances to the green. You can also manually get distances to hazards and landing zones by tapping the screen.
Battery life has improved and is rated at around 10 hours when using both the speaker and GPS functions. We got 2.5 rounds rounds from a full charge so it checks out. A BITE magnetic mount has been upgraded with stronger magnets and new BITE pad materal helps keep the speaker in place even during bumpy rides through the woods.
While not the absolute best dedicated speaker or rangefinder, the convenience factor of the Wingman 2 makes it a winner for golfers who want versatile all-in-one functionality. It eliminates having to carry separate devices and lets you groove to your tunes while getting critical distance data. It’s a bit pricey at $149 but a very handy accessory.
