In what’s sure to be one of the biggest news items for car enthusiasts at this year’s Monterey Car Week is the reveal of the all-new BMW M5 Touring, which is coming to the U.S for the first time. Powered by BMW’s M Hybrid drive system, the 4.4L V8 produces 717 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque, allowing for M5 Touring to get from 0-60 in 3.5 seconds and can hit a top speed 190 mph when equipped with the optional M Driver’s Package. The hybrid-powered system also enables all-electric driving, offering up to 25 miles of EV range at speeds of up to 87 mph.
The exterior is a sharp balance of sporty and aggressive design elements comprised of a new M kidney grille, a large central lower air intake, muscular wheel arches, prominent side skirts, and standard M Shadowline Lights with Full LED Headlights. Aero-tuned M exterior mirror caps in a high-gloss black finish add to the car’s menacing look and a set of 20″ front and 21″ rear M double-spoke alloy wheels further emphasize the car’s imposing presence.
Inside, occupants will have an estimated 57.6 cubic feet of storage, M Multifunction seats, an M-specific steering wheel, model-specific interior lighting, a standard Sky Lounge Panoramic Roof, the latest iDrive system, a BMW Curved Display, a Head-Up Display with M-specific readouts, and a full suite of driver assistance and safety features.
The M5 Touring will be available later this year.
