Our favorite cases and accessories for the iPhone 16 & 16 Pro

Tomorrow is the big day for all of you new iPhone 16/16 Pro owners as Apple’s latest device should be on its way to your doorstep. That also means you’ll probably need a new case and for those of you moving from a 14 or earlier, you’re probably going to need some new chargers too.

We’ve put together a list of some of our favorite cases and accessories to come across our desk to keep your new hardware protected as well as some new devices to ensure you’re charging at the fastest speeds possible.

Nomad’s Modern Leather and Sport Cases

Apple’s official cases are nice but some of the best options out there aren’t available at the Apple Store. One brand that always grabs our attention is Nomad, who has styles both for the luxurious and the adventurous. On the luxury end is their Modern Leather Case ($70 – Pro models only), which combines Horween leather and a TPU bumper for an extra layer of protection and it also comes in a Traditional Leather ($60 – iPhone 16 Series) option for those want the full leather enclosure.

For those looking for a sportier option, the Rugged Case ($60 – Pro models only) has enhanced drop protection (15 ft) and a more tactical look with a polycarbonate bumper and a PET backplate. The Sport Case ($50 – Pro models only) offers a cleaner look while still offering the protection of a grippy TPU bumper. All of the cases also feature anodized aluminum buttons and MagSafe support.

Bellroy’s Venture and Phone Cases

Slim protection and functionality have always been the focus of Bellroy’s case designs and this year’s models continue that theme. The all-new Venture Case ($49 – Pro models only) feature raised bumpers for added camera protection and an attachment point for the included wrist strap. The Phone Case ($55-$59 – iPhone 16 Series) keeps it slim with a full leather wrap and the protection of flex polymer.

Vegan-friendly case options from Otterbox and Moft

If there’s one that surprised us about Apple’s Finewoven Cases, it’s that the company didn’t consider going the alternative leather route. Brands like Otterbox latest Symmetry Series ($59 – Pro models only) comes in an option made out of Desserto’s Cactus Leather, which is sustainably harvested from nopal cactus and is just as good as traditional leathers. Another great option is Moft’s Snap Case Movas ($49 – iPhone 16 Series), which is a sustainable leather option that not only looks and feels the part but is also scratch and fade resistant.

Caudabe Sheath and Veil Cases

Caudabe has always been one of our favorite low-profile options with designs that offer rugged protection while also keeping their cases as slim as possible. Their signature Synthesis ($49 – iPhone 16 Series except 16 Plus) is their most protective offering with a proprietary shock-absorbing polymer that’s paired to a hard shell back. Another option is the Veil ($34 – Pro models only), which is the most minimalist option our roundup and now features textured sides for enhanced grip.

Rimowa

Rimowa’s iPhone Cases ($150 – Pro models only) are finally MagSafe compatible with a new selection of polycarbonate options with those iconic grooves. An aluminum option ($180 – Pro models only) is also available but you’ll have to go without MagSafe support due to the use of the metal panel.

Belkin and Anker’s Wireless Travel Chargers

If you haven’t picked up a wireless charger yet for your travels, now is the time, especially if you’re fully invested into the Apple ecosystem. Anker’s new UFO ($89) can charge both iPhone and Apple watch at up to 15W and 5W and there’s a charging pad for your AirPods too. And when you’re ready to go home, the charger folds flat into a compact, disc-like shape. Belkin’s BoostCharge Pro ($119) has a hinge so you can prop it up to enable StandBy mode when your iPhone is placed on the 15W Qi2 charger horizontally, making it great for your hotel nightstand, and it also has a charger for an Apple Watch.

Apple’s 25W MagSafe Charger

Apple quietly announced an upgrade to its MagSafe charging system with a higher output of 25W for the 16 and 16 Pro models. The new MagSafe Charger ($39-$49) gets the 16 and 16 Pro to a 50% charge in just half an hour but you’ll also have to pair it with a 30W USB-C charger to enable the full charging speed.

Nimble’s Wally 65W Wall Chargers and PowerKnit Flex Cables

It has been reported that all iPhone 16 models support up to charging speeds of up to 45W and if you’re upgrading from a an iPhone 14 or earlier, you’re definitely going to need to grab some new chargers and cables. We’re big fans of Nimble’s slim Wally 65W Wall Charger ($44), which should pair perfectly with their new PowerKnit Flex Cables ($59) that come in a 3-pack with different lengths and supports speeds of up to 240W.

The new iPhone 16 Series will be available on September 20th.
