Showing off the highest level of their finishing expertise, A. Lange & Söhne unveils the Datograph Handwerkskunst. The watch’s black-rhodiumed main dial and the light-grey sub-dials have been finished using a tremblage engraving technique that requires a specially made lining burin to craft the dial’s fine-grained surface. You’ll also find Roman numerals that have been chamfered and finished with straight graining an that level of detail has also been applied to the watch’s movement.
The in-house L951.8 features chronograph levers that are black polished, a technique the brand says is one of the most difficult finishing techniques. You’ll also find granular surfaces that are inspired by historic pocket watches and a balance cock with a vine motif that is relief-engraved. The 426-part movement is manually wound and has a power reserve of 60 hours. All of this comes housed in an 18-carat yellow gold case, which is fitted to a dark brown alligator leather strap with an 18-carat yellow gold deployant buckle.
