A reboot of an ’80s classic, complete with a timeless watch.
The right tools for the job take on a whole new meaning if you happen to be Ryan Gosling, or rather, Gosling’s latest on-screen persona, stuntman Colt Seavers in The Fall Guy. And in this case, Gosling’s new take on a classic ’80s action series wears a stunning Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph.
The timepiece is part of the ongoing partnership between Tag Heuer and Gosling, this time appearing on the big screen in daring fashion in the forthcoming flick from Universal Pictures and director David Leitch.
Gosling appears both onscreen and in a dedicated campaign trailer celebrating the partnership and showcasing feats of daring as his persona Seaver does, well, a little bit of everything.
Seaver comes out of stuntman retirement for a film directed by his ex (played by Emily Blunt), and also sets out to untangle a conspiracy and track down a missing movie star.
The flick is a reboot of the classic ’80s TV series starring Lee Majors. An early review from Rolling Stone of the former stuntman, now-director Leitch’s film call it a “proper tribute to his fellow bruised, battered brethren.”
Gosling takes on daring stunts across the board, including surfing on a piece of sheet metal across the Sydney Harbour Bridge (it has to be seen to be believed).
All the while, the stuntman sports a striking, efficient and ready-for-anything Tag Heuer Carrera. Naturally, the iconic timepiece company is the official watch sponsor of the film.
Gosling famously sported not one, not two, but three Tag Heuer watches in last summer’s epic Barbie, and starred in an official Tag Heuer campaign for Netflix action thriller The Gray Man.
Gosling’s latest Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph is described by Tag Heuer as a “bold and dynamic watch,” with a tasteful 39mm case diameter and a dial inspired by “panda” dials in crisp white and black.
Gosling himself knows the timepiece can certainly pass muster.
“My character in The Fall Guy is a stuntman whose job is a matter of life and death – especially if the timing isn’t perfect,” he said in a statement. “When he’s forced to use his stunt skills in the real world, he needed a timepiece that can keep up and won’t let him down. There was no more perfect choice than the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph.”
For those looking to add some stuntman-inspired, technical and functional fashion to their wrist game (all the while emulating a high-flying movie star), Gosling’s The Fall Guy chronograph is available online for $6,450.
