This November on Netflix is going to be killer, with David Fincher’s thriller of the same name arriving on the streaming platform. It reteams the director with Se7en screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker and stars Michael Fassbender as a stone-cold hitman on the brink of a breakdown. If you ask us, this hot ticket is worth the price of an ad-tier subscription alone, which makes all the other new releases seem like icing on the cake. But hey, who doesn’t love icing? Here’s everything new on Netflix this November.
Best New Series on Netflix
The whole reason we come to the streamer in the first place, new Netflix series launches are the stuff of gold. This month, we’ve got a host of new releases, headlined by a couple of long-awaited series returns. Here are the best new series coming to Netflix in November 2023.
The Crown: Season 6
Release date: 16 November 2023
Is it morbid to suggest that the death of Princess Diana is a moment that The Crown viewers have been waiting for? And yet the historic occasion is now multiple seasons in the making, with the recent fifth season chronicling the dissolution of her marriage to Prince Charles. The upcoming season 6 will depict her final days and the drama thereafter and we’ll be hanging on every scene.
Squid Game: The Challenge
Release date: 22 November 2023
Given the massive success of the South Korean series Squid Game, this real-life version felt more or less inevitable. It hails from the UK and pits 456 players against each other in a succession of grueling challenges, minus the whole “if you lose you die” angle (presumably). One lucky winner will go home with a whopping $4.56 million in prize money.
Obliterated
Release date: 30 November 2023
This action comedy series comes to us from the creators of Cobra Kai and centres on an elite special forces team. After deactivating a bomb in Las Vegas, the team celebrates with a wild night of debauchery. There’s just one problem: the bomb they deactivated was a decoy and they don’t have time to come down from their various highs before the real bomb detonates. It all sounds quite ridiculous but so did Cobra Kai and look how that one turned out.
Scott Pilgrim Takes Off
Release date: 17 November 2023
Once a box office disappointment, the 2010 film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is now something of a cult classic. This new animated series draws from the same source material and weaves a similar tale, pitting musician Scott Pilgrim against his crush’s ex-boyfriends. Whereas the film version incorporated a frenetic comic book influence, this one goes full anime when bringing the story to life.
Selling Sunset: Season 7
Release date: 3 November 2023
This “reality” show about Los Angeles real estate agents is every bit as shallow as one might expect and all the more addictive as a result. Season 7 will see the return of numerous series regulars as they close deals on luxurious properties and grapple with all kinds of sexy drama…or something like that.
All the Light We Cannot See
Release date: 2 November 2023
This new miniseries culls from a Pulitzer Prize-winning novel about the relationship between a blind French girl and a young German soldier during WWII. Some critics have dinged it for a sappy execution while still highlighting the lead performances.
Best New Movies on Netflix
While Netflix film releases can vary in quality, this month, the streamer is dropping some hotly anticipated titles. Here’s a closer look.
The Killer
Release date: 10 November 2023
We’ve re-upped our Netflix subscription with the sole purpose of catching this noirish thriller from director David Fincher. Adapted from a French graphic novel series, it follows an alienated hitman (Michael Fassbender) after a job goes awry. A boilerplate premise perhaps, but we can’t wait to see what Fincher and screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker have done with it.
Nyad
Release date: 3 November 2023
This upcoming biopic stars Annette Bening as marathon swimmer Diana Nyad, who swam 110 miles from Cuba to Florida at the age of 60. Its rollout has been preceded by claims that Nyad embellished certain aspects of her accomplishments, but since when has that stopped Hollywood from doing anything? Here’s hoping she strangles a shark with her bare hands—now that’s storytelling!
Leo
Release date: 21 November 2023
Not to be confused with the recent Indian blockbuster of the same name (which will also stream on Netflix at some point), this animated musical comedy follows the exploits of an old lizard named Leo (voiced by Adam Sandler). After spending most of his life as an elementary school classroom pet, Leo breaks free from his aquarium to experience the world.
New Netflix Documentary Series and Film
After dropping a number of docuseries and documentaries over the past few months, Netflix Australia is back at it again. Here are the best new Netflix documentary releases to land in November 2023.
Robbie Williams
Release date: 8 November 2023
Pop group standout turned solo star Robbie Williams is now in the third decade of his wildly successful career. This upcoming docuseries finds the British singer looking back on his unique life and reflecting upon the nature of fame itself.
Sly
Release date: 3 November 2023
Is it just us or is Netflix spearheading an entire subgenre of celebrity documentaries and docuseries? On the heels of Arnold and Beckham (and alongside Robbie Williams) comes Sly, a one-and-a-half-hour look at the life and career of Sylvester Stallone. Follow the Hollywood legend as he goes from ambitious underdog to global action star and beyond.
Escaping Twin Flames
Release date: 8 November 2023
This three-part docuseries exposes the Twin Flames Universe to reveal a sinister underbelly. And what is Twin Flames Universe, exactly? Just your average cult that promises true love only to exploit your romantic weaknesses and charge you for the privilege. Who could’ve seen that coming?!
Bad Surgeon: Love Under the Knife
Release date: 29 November 2023
This true crime docuseries peels back the skin on surgeon Paolo Macchiarini, who wanted to revolutionise regenerative medicine through the use of plastic windpipes. After lying about his research, Macchiarini became responsible for three deaths and at least one irrevocable injury. We get the “Bad Surgeon” part, but is “Love Under the Knife” really necessary?
New Comedy on Netflix
The constantly rotating Netflix comedy lineup brings at least a few good laughs every month and this November is no exception. Here’s a closer look at all the comedy that’s new on Netflix this month.
Matt Rife: Natural Selection
Release date: 14 November 2023
Comedian Matt Rife has earned a healthy following through the release of viral videos and self-produced stand-up specials on YouTube. This latest special is his first for Netflix and it tackles everything from social media trolls to protection crystals and more.
