So far, the fall has been chock-full of new turntable releases, from Goldring announcing its first turntable in 20 years to Victrola announcing its most expensive turntable that “Works with Sonos.” Also, Pro-Ject, the popular Austrian turntable maker, has just been on a heater, seemingly releasing new models every other week.
Below, we round up the latest turntable releases from the last two months.
Pro-Ject T1 Evo
• Release date: October 2024
The Pro-Ject T1 Evo is an upgraded version of its entry-level T1 turntable (which was released in late 2019 and is seemingly being phased out). It looks similar to its predecessor — including the signature high-mass tempered glass platter — but boasts a higher-end cartridge, new electronic speed change and a larger sub-platter.

Audio-Technica AT-LP8X

At $999, the Audio-Technica AT-LP8X is a considerably more expensive turntable than we’re used to seeing from the brand. It’s a direct-drive turntable featuring premium hardware — such as a heavier platter, a newly designed low-torque motor and a J-shaped aluminum tonearm. Most notably, it’s the brand’s first semi-automatic turntable.

Victrola The Century

The Victrola Century is an all-in-one record player — the speakers, amplifier, preamp and turntable are all in the same box. In addition to playing vinyl, it supports Bluetooth streaming and features a CD player and cassette tape player. That’s right, this one-box speaker system can play vintage audio formats other than just vinyl.

Goldring GR3
• Release date: October 2024
The renowned British hi-fi maker, best known for its high-quality phono cartridges, revealed its first turntable in 20 years. The Goldring GR3 is a beautiful belt-drive turntable that features the company’s award-winning Goldring E3 moving magnet cartridge. It also has a built-in phono preamp, thus promises to work well with powered and active speaker systems.

Technics SL-1300G
• Release date: October 2024
The Technics SL-1300G is the legendary Japanese hi-fi maker’s newest audiophile-grade direct-drive turntable. It’s the highest-end model in the company’s Grand Class series of turntables — which sits below its Reference Class series, which includes the $20,000 SL-1000R. The SL-1300G builds on the foundations of 2023’s $2,200 SL-1200GR2 but adds a few updates, including a more powerful motor and heavier platter.

Pro-Ject Debut Evo 2

The Pro-Ject Debut Evo 2 is an updated version of the Austrian hi-fi maker’s Debut Carbon Evolution (which Pro-Ject no longer sells). It looks similar, but features upgraded hardware — including the same tonearm bearing block and non-magnetic aluminum platter as the $1,099 Debut Pro B (also featured on this list). Most notably, you have the choice between ten different finishes.

Victrola Automatic

Victrola Stream Sapphire

The Victrola Stream Sapphire is an upgraded, more expensive version of its Stream Carbon turntable. It’s one of the few turntables that “Works with Sonos,” so it can stream vinyl directly to your home’s existing Sonos speakers.
