So far, the fall has been chock-full of new turntable releases, from Goldring announcing its first turntable in 20 years to Victrola announcing its most expensive turntable that “Works with Sonos.” Also, Pro-Ject, the popular Austrian turntable maker, has just been on a heater, seemingly releasing new models every other week.

Below, we round up the latest turntable releases from the last two months.

Pro-Ject T1 Evo

The Pro-Ject T1 Evo is an upgraded version of its entry-level T1 turntable (which was released in late 2019 and is seemingly being phased out). It looks similar to its predecessor — including the signature high-mass tempered glass platter — but boasts a higher-end cartridge, new electronic speed change and a larger sub-platter.

Audio-Technica AT-LP8X

At $999, the Audio-Technica AT-LP8X is a considerably more expensive turntable than we’re used to seeing from the brand. It’s a direct-drive turntable featuring premium hardware — such as a heavier platter, a newly designed low-torque motor and a J-shaped aluminum tonearm. Most notably, it’s the brand’s first semi-automatic turntable.

It also has a built-in phono preamp, thus promises to work well with powered and active speaker systems.

Technics SL-1300G

The Technics SL-1300G is the legendary Japanese hi-fi maker’s newest audiophile-grade direct-drive turntable. It’s the highest-end model in the company’s Grand Class series of turntables — which sits below its Reference Class series, which includes the $20,000 SL-1000R. The SL-1300G builds on the foundations of 2023’s $2,200 SL-1200GR2 but adds a few updates, including a more powerful motor and heavier platter.

Most notably, you have the choice between ten different finishes.
